Stimulus Checks
This week marks the third week of the IRS depositing stimulus checks directly into taxpayers’ bank accounts. If you have not received your stimulus check it is probably due to one of the following reasons: you are not eligible for a stimulus check, you did not file a tax return in 2019 or 2018, your tax return was recently filed, there was a glitch or your direct deposit just hasn’t been processed yet. You can track the progress of your stimulus check on the IRS’s “Get My Payment” webpage. This week the IRS has only processed 80 million out of the 150 million direct deposit stimulus checks to go out to taxpayers. Note that many taxpayers have found errors in the IRS’s “Get My Payment” webpage which will hopefully be fixed soon.
Stimulus Check in the Mail
Additionally, if you usually get your tax return refund by mail, you can update your payment method to direct deposit on the IRS’s “Get My Payment” webpage. This will allow you to get your stimulus check deposited directly into your bank account. If you decide to wait for your stimulus check via the mail, it could take until September to receive it.
