US-Created Companies Now Exempt from BOI Reporting
In a major reversal, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, or FinCEN, is no longer requiring owners of domestic companies to report information about their companies and themselves to the agency. FinCEN originally required existing S corporations, C corporations or LLCs to file their beneficial ownership information, or BOI, by the end of 2024. The deadline was then extended, but now the agency says all entities created in the United States are exempt from the requirement. Existing foreign companies that must still report their beneficial ownership information. The deadline for them is now April 25, 2025.
Bellingham Minimum Wage to Increase May 1
The minimum wage inside the Bellingham city limits climbs to $18.66 per hour starting May 1, 2025. A voter initiative passed in 2023 requires all Bellingham businesses to pay an additional $2 per hour over the state’s current minimum wage rate.
