  • First, find keywords – what are your customers looking for?
  • Write useful content – provide answers to what customers are looking for. Get right to the answers and skip long introductions. If you make your content shareworthy, you may attract links that will further drive visitors to your site as well as increase your search ranking.
  • Use and optimize images – once you’ve found your keywords, use appropriate images and put your keywords in your alternate text. But don’t overuse
  • Don’t neglect video – optimized video on your webpages can show up in video search results.
  • Optimize the page – use your main keyword in the title of the page and the headers.
  • Polish your snippets – summations of information that will be displayed in search results.
  • Make sure your site is optimized for smart phones.

There are a lot more factors. In fact, Google uses more than 200 different criteria to rank a website’s content relevance to search terms. This introduction barely scratches the surface, but its main job is to convince you that you need to perform SEO for your website.
